We have been looking at our “best 11” over the last few days here at 100%LCFC and we naturally started with Who Was our BEST EVER Keeper ?

It is a big and tough debate, as we have had quite a few top notch keepers between the sticks.

Many rate Kasper very highly, but those with a longer memory will also bring into the mix the likes of Shilton and Wallington.

Kevin Poole, Kasey Keller and a few others get worthy mentions….

But the name most fans still keep referring to is the one and only GORDON BANKS !

Leicester City’s goalkeeper, Gordon Banks at full stretch

Not only did Banksie do the business at club level for us, and of course Stoke City, but he lifted the BIGGEST trophy of them all, the World Cup, and while he was a Fox.

Banksie – World Cup Winner

Famously he also pulled off what is classed as the “The Best EVER save in Football History” when he stopped Pele scoring in the 1970 World Cup finals.

The Best EVER Save in the World ?

So this is the sort of prize most fans of Leicester City would want in their cabinets or mantelpieces at home… a SIGNED BANKS glove !

A strange Save by Banks !

Gordon Banks sadly passed away in Feb 2019 after an amazing career and post player life, fans from around the City and indeed around the world posted messages of condolences to one of the best ever keepers to play football.
