Why Not Run The Most Famous Pub in Leicester ?
Leicester is now famous for two things… finding a king in a car park, and the 5000:1 Premier League Win. They have a lot of things in common really. Both were amazing and highly unlikey things to happen, I mean come on, shall we look in this car park and dig up one of the most notorious King’s of England ? Well they dug, and they found ! That’s part one of the story sorted….
Perhaps just as unbelievable is taking a group of players , some given to us for free, some towards the end of their carear, some unknowns from the French second tier and a non league striker who nobody thought was good enough. Well that group of misfits went on to do the impossible in 2015/16 and win the biggest and most famous football league in the world.
So, put that all together and you have football fans, King Richard III and we have the most famous things to happen in Leicester since the Romans arrived.
So where in Leicester can these two passions mix, there really is only one place for that. The King Richard III pub which is about 30 feet from the High Cross in Jubilee Square, which was the old Roman Forum. It doesnt get much more historic than this !
Well for those of you looking for a new challenge, the King Richard III pub in Leicester is available for you to run as your own ! So if you have every thought about running a pub now could be your chance. The most historic named pub in Leicester, right in the City Centre, and with massive connections to Leicester City and the history of our great City.

Something’s missing at the King Richard III pub and it might be you!
Everards are doing all they can to help and support their business owners to be in the best position possible when they can open once again. This includes attracting new business owners to take on some great pubs that they have, including King Richard III in the heart of Leicester City Centre.
Everards say that the current situation has actually brought pub communities together and although the role of pubs has changed during this time, many remain as the hub of their communities providing food, drink, support, and a cheery face at this difficult time.
As lots of you are at home considering your future and having a break from what you are currently doing, those that are thinking of running a pub have been pursuing their dreams and taking the time to ask questions and Everards have seen hundreds of enquiries in these past few weeks for lots of their pubs.
The King Richard III has been in the Everards estate for many a year and is a pub they want to see live to its full potential: “We haven’t got it quite right with this pub – We’ve worked with some great business owners who took the pub on as an additional site and added a fantastic food offer. However we’ve all learnt that the King Richard III needs to be more of a relaxed “proper local, in the city” with the same friendly face behind the bar to give that warm welcome and character you expect each time you visit your local.” says Everards
King Richard III is a beautifully restored, Victorian pub in the thriving city of Leicester, it’s in an excellent location sitting just to the side of Jubilee Square and the food court of the Highcross shopping centre.
Over the last few years, a lot of love and attention has been put into restoring this beautiful pub to become the inviting and charming venue it is today.
King Richard III is full of character and given our recent learnings, it is believed that this would make a fantastic drinking pub, offering real ales, local beers and a great wine selection with a side helping of tempting pub snacks – attracting real pub goers!
On entry, you are met by a warm and welcoming bar area with a fully opening window to the front. There is an additional seating area that has been beautifully decorated and is currently used as a dining room, which is served by the new commercial kitchen on the upper floor. To the side of the pub, you will find a great outdoor seating area with wall to wall planting – great for entertainment in all weathers and a gem to have in the heart of the city.
It’s expansive upstairs private accommodation also provides great city centre living.
Leicester City Centre continues to develop, with the recent opening of the Novotel hotel just around the corner and being steps away from the High Cross shopping centre and casino, King Richard III sits in a prime location.
“We want to be ready for when pubs can open fully and offer the people living in and around the city a great pub to visit once again! We are looking for someone with experience in the pub industry, who has a good head for business and a great vision, to take on this exciting opportunity, offering a point of difference to the area.” says Martin Bailey from Everards.
