In our next match we are playing AEK Athens, which we have been told by our friend Antonio, who is a Greek Leicester fan who lives in Athens, that they are called AEK, not AEK Athens.
This is our Second match of Europa League football, and our first away match of the group stage, and we are hoping to make it 3 win in a row, and 2 in the Group Stage!

So, who are AEK? Well, you can read about them down below here…!

They are a Greek team, and considered one of the League’s more successful teams, alongside Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, their club is full of history, with European experience and of 30 national titles to their name!

Striker Nelson Oliveira was AEK’s top goal scorer last season as they finished 3rd in the Super League Greece, losing only 1 match in their final 14 league games. Does this name ring any bells? It might do as he use to play in the English league with Swansea, Nottingham, Norwich and Reading!
The experienced Portugal international is a tough Striker, so he is going to give our defense a hard time when they’re crossing the ball, but he also had a good goal scoring record throughout his career!

AEK secured their place in Group G after an impressive win against German side Wolfsberg 2-1 earlier on in the month.
Since then, the Greek side have enjoyed a good start to their League campaign, sitting comfortably in 4th place in a 14 team league, with 10 points from 5 games!
However, AEK lost their first match in the UEFA Europa League League group stage against Braga, as they lost 3-0 in their opening fixture…

We have never played AEK in a competitive match, and this Thursday will be the first time we play each other in history!

AEK have won the Greek League Super 12 times, and the Super League 2 only once, with 15 Greek Cup wins, 3 Greek Super Cups and 1 Greek League Cup.
However, they are yet to get any European League silverware, so they are a successful league team, but we have a good chance to go to Greece and beat them!

There stadium is called the Athens Olympic Stadium, as they will host Leicester in our first Group Stage fixture.
Their ground has a capacity of 69,618, which is joint owned with Panathinaiko’s.
Their ground held the Mediterranean Games in 1991, the World Athletics Championships in 1997 and the Olympic Games in 2004, as well as the 1994 & 2007 UEFA Champions League finals!

Let’s hope that we can go the Greece this mid week and get another 3 points in the group stage!
