What is WRONG With Our Defence?!
Konsa at the double as Villa see off Leicester
Centre-back Ezri Konsa scored twice as Aston Villa beat Leicester City 2-1 at Villa Park to earn Steven Gerrard his third win in four matches as head coach.
Harvey Barnes had put Leicester in front on 14 minutes when he side-footed the ball into the bottom-right corner.
But the visitors were only ahead for three minutes, as Konsa applied the slightest of touches to Emiliano Buendia’s header to restore parity.
Villa thought they had gone ahead through Jacob Ramsey near the end of the first half, but he was adjudged to have fouled Kasper Schmeichel following a VAR review.
But Konsa did put them in front when he beat Schmeichel at his near post with a header to score his second on 54 minutes.
Ollie Watkins and Ramsey went close to a third, while Barnes’ looping header was tipped over by Emiliano Martinez at full stretch as Leicester searched in vain for an equaliser.
Villa move up to 19 points and 10th position, having climbed above the 11th-placed Foxes on goal difference.
this is what Leicester Fan TV Sam has to say…
“Overall it is not good enough, we’re attacking well, but the defence is all over the place, something needs to chance. we’re the top team in conceding set peice goals, and we’re 2nd for goal conceded this season, which is poor considering this time 12 months ago we were sat comfortably at the top of the table, and now we’re bottling it yet again. something needs to change, and we need to get some points in the bag!”
