On the back of our opening day win against Wolves, we head south of the country to give you all the latest news and details about what to expect when we take on West Ham United tonight

Despite victory against Wolves in our curtain raiser, Leicester recorded only 14 touches in the Wolves box, compared to Wolves’ 28.  It may not have been the most convincing performance from the Foxes, but Rodgers’ players got the job done, once again.

With new signing Jannik Vestergaard looking set to start our game against the Irons, what can we expect to see from the Dane?

Well, on his debut, Jannik completed 16 passes with a 100% pass accuracy within 34 minutes. This is not out of the ordinary for Vestergaard who, last season, had a pass accuracy of 84% and most importantly, has a tackles success percentage of 75%. At 15 million pounds, it seems the Foxes have picked up a real bargain.

With news of Harvey Barnes extending his contract until 2025, will we see the young man get off the mark for the first time this season in a tricky fixture where West Ham come off the back of an inspired victory, beating Newcastle United 4-2.

MATCHDAY MATCHUPS

  • Jannik Vestergaard vs Michail Antonio
  • Harvey Barnes vs Vladimir Coufal
  • Jarrod Bowen vs Luke Thomas
  • Youri Tielemans vs Declan Rice

TEAM NEWS

Arthur Masuaku is West Ham’s only injury doubt, while Leicester have a number of defensive issues.

Leicester have a number of injury problems with Ryan Bertrand, James Justin, Wesley Fofana, and Nampalys Mendy all ruled out. James Maddison and Timothy Castagne may be set to feature, however there are doubts. And the breaking news today is that new signing Jan Vestaguaard is also out with a knee injury !

HEAD-TO-HEAD STATISTICS AND FAN THOUGHTS

On our last visit to the London Stadium, we came away with a 3-2 loss due to an inspired Jesse Lingard performance. However, with Jesse no longer at the club and West Ham’s recruitment being poor this summer, can the Foxes burst a bubble this time round? Let’s take a look at some interesting statistics.

  • West Ham and Leicester average 3.2 Goals per Match in this fixture.
  • Michail Antonio could become West Ham’s top-scoring player in the Premier League this season if he can continue his recent form against Leicester City.
  • West Ham are looking to win three consecutive Premier League games against Leicester for the first time since 1997. They have not won three in a row against the Foxes since 1994.
  • Leicester have kept a clean sheet in just 11% of their Premier League games against West Ham.

Here are the thoughts of West Ham fan Joe Clark;

“We’ve had a pretty good record against Leicester over the last few years especially with the wins home and away last season. Hopefully we can carry on as we left off last week up in Newcastle using the linkup between Benrahma and Antonio to stretch the Leicester defence. I think the first 20 minutes will show if we’ve learnt from our defensive mistakes of last week and I believe if we do that, we can win 2-1 under the lights at the London stadium”

Personally, I can see this game being West Ham 2-2 Leicester. Come on you Foxes!
