The Wheels Are Coming Off…! Report by Ethan Farmer
Leicester City 0-3 Chelsea
Chelsea stay top of the Premier League following a convincing win at the King Power Stadium.
The Blues struck early against the Foxes. As with 46% of Chelsea’s goals this season, it came from a defender. Antonio Rüdiger headed home from Ben Chilwell’s corner in the 14th minute – four of Rüdiger’s eight Premier League goals have come against Leicester.
It went bad from worse for the hosts as another returning face haunted Brendan Rodger’s side, this time N’golo Kanté. The Frenchman’s mazy run before a left footed strike finish from outside the box to double the lead for Thomas Tuchel’s side. However, it could have been even worse before half time after Kanté went through one-on-one with Schmeichel. Thankfully for the Foxes, the Dane was equal to the effort.
Rodgers’ side started the second half strong, forcing Edouard Mendy into action following a strike from distance from Daniel Amartey. They followed this chance up with another, but Jamie Vardy headed over, not troubling Mendy.
However, they were made to rue the missed chances. Chelsea’s substitutes linked up to wrap up the three points for the visitors. Hakim Ziyech set up Christian Pulisic for the Blues’ third of the match.
Chelsea look like they are in their stride but for the Foxes, it is the opposite. Another poor performance and disappointing result leaves more fans questioning, has Brendan Rodgers taken the club as far as he can?
