Swindon 4-3 Leicester – Play off Memories !
27 years ago, we lost to yet ANOTHER bad penalty decision at Wembley. Swindon won the match 4-3, despite Leicester coming back from 3-0 down, almost managing to pull back a near gone game…Where you there?!
We asked you, the fans, if you where there when we lost, and what your emotions where watching the match unfold in-front of your eyes… This is what you had to say…!
William Hope
Yes I was there. Unbelievable recovery after the shock of going 3 down, but the players gave everything they had and ran out of steam after the equalizer. Gutted at end
Anne Timson
Yeah was there with my brother. We were furious with the ref for giving that. How can someone go down and turn in mid-air and appeal for a foul? Was a dive. Watched a replay on BT Sport the other day and still feel the same.
Dom Bray
Remember standing up and shout wtf is going on when we went three down…..when tomo equalised I ended up 10 rows from my original seat absolute scenes. To then be done by another dodgy peno….I was absolutely gutted after that game.
Jody Branston
This was my first live football match. I was 6 months pregnant and was beside myself with excitement and emotion. First of years and years of live matches and start of my love of lcfc x
Tony Martin
Yes I was there and was gutted I just could not believe what happened another unhappy day at Wembley
Robert Spence
Yes I was there very disappointed at the penalty decision what a comeback
Lizzybeth Watts
Yes …. went to all Wembley playoffs. The highs and the lows. Remember bbqs in Wembley car park.
Andy Windram
We live in Somerset and had to go back home along the M4 with the Swindon fans waving banners off the bridges and generally taking the p—s out of us . Worse journey home after a football match ever
Stewart Mcgahan
i was there amazing come back robbed in the end.Hoddle player manager if i remember right.
Jason Mills
First time I cried watching Leicester. My then GF was too, right after the Leicester end erupted after Steve Thompson’s equaliser and I’d elbowed her in the face.
Marcus Cobley
One of my ‘greatest‘ games I’ve ever attended on a scorching day. When Tommo rolled in that equaliser there was only gonna be one winner having also beaten them twice in the season
Neil Higgins
Yes was there, thought it was over at 3-0 then got some hope when Steve Thompson made it 3-3, but wasnt meant to be. The win against Derby a year later made it much sweeter anyway
Andrew David Brown
If we didnt lose that game we would not have won the premier league. It all had to happen. I was there. Gutted at the time and for years after
James Alvey
Undoubtedly an awful result, but being there, it was one of the greatest memories for me as a nipper!
If you do not remember this game, or haven’t seen it before, watch the match down below here… You can feel the emotions around the ground in this game!
