RIP Gordon Banks
It was sad to say but Gordon Banks has passed away at the age of 81.
He was a Leicester Legend and an outstanding England player.
Winning the World Cup for us back when it was hoasted in England in 1966.
He went on to make one of the most memorable saves against another Legend Pele, the Brazilian Striker.
We signed him from Chesterfield for £7000, and he went on to make 293 appearances for us.
In 1967, one year after the world cup, we sold him to Stoke for £50,000
After this he was in a car crash, losing vision in one of his eyes, so that ended his career in the UK.
But he went on to play in the United states for two seasons, and despite only being able to see in one eye, he was the NASL Goalkeeper of the year.
He was said to have been one of the best goalkeepers of all time, and was named FIFA Goalkeeper on six occasions.
Gone but never forgotten.
RIP Gordon Banks
