MATCH REPORT : Is Our Name On The Cup ?
Is this our year for the cup – Match Report by James Harlow
It was the foxes first encounter in the Carabao Cup away at Sheffield Utd. Both teams 8 changes, it surprises me that teams do not take the league cup seriously anymore as it’s a route to Europe and a trip to Wembley. Although the foxes are guaranteed one trip to Wembley on 28th November.
First half was poor from both teams with the foxes having a few chances. Best chance was a Slimani ball to Musa but a terrible first touch meant the opportunity had passed.
Not sure what Shakey said to them at half time but the 2nd half was explosive to say the least. 8 minutes into the half Gray picks up the ball and goes on an incredible run before slotting under the keeper. This boy will be a great talent one day. King passes a lovely through ball to Slimani who drags the ball past the keeper and slots into an empty net, its 2 nil to the foxes. Gray then crosses and its Slimani again 0-3. Slimani is a great talent and is proving it tonight if we could get him some great crosses in I think he will come good.
With he strikers we have now they should be fighting for their places and bodes well for the season ahead. Slimani scores again but its deemed off side, replays show he was on side but his hat trick goal is disallowed. Sheff United pull one back I think it was supposed to be a cross and feel Hamer was expecting a cross but you should not be getting beat at your near post and its 1-3. Deep into stoppage time Musa makes it 1-4 and their final whistle goes.
A good win for the foxes with the second half showing how good our fringe players are, for me this gives Shakey a headache, however what a headache to have because all of the attacking players are coming into form.
