Lifeless, Dull and Not Surprising Loss…
Foxes without a win in the Premier League – Report by Matt Ballard
Leicester extended their losing streak to five in a row in the premier league with a 5-2 hammering by Brighton, who have started the season in fantastic form.
There was no place in the side for new signing Wout Faes as the game was just a bit too early, whilst Soyuncu was dropped while negotiating a move away from the King Power.
Things looked bright for City when they took the lead inside 50 seconds when Iheanacho finished from Daka’s pull-back. But it only took Albion 15 minutes to rectify their error and go ahead, thanks to a Thomas own goal, and a weak pass from Maddison allowed Moses Caicedo to finish past a helpless Ward.
The Foxes did equalise through a lofted ball through to Daka, who slotted calmly past Sanchez just after the half-hour mark.
Just like the rest of the premier league this weekend, there was VAR drama when a Mac Allister 30-yard wonder-strike was ruled out due to an offside in the build-up.
However, the relief for Leicester didn’t last long when Trossard scored to restore the Gulls’ lead when he finished past Ward, who arguably should have done better. Mac Allister made up for the offside goal, bagging a brace first from the spot after an Ndidi foul and the second a freekick from 35 yards to compound City’s woes.
After the game, Rodgers took full responsibility for the defeat, saying it ultimately falls onto him. However, he can hardly be blamed for the weak defending, especially in the build-up to the first two goals.
Next up for the Foxes is a trip against fellow strugglers Aston Villa.
