Leicester City 2-3 Tottenham

Heartbreak for the Foxes as Steven Bergwijn gets two injury-time goals to snatch the victory for an enthralling ending.

Leicester looked well on their way to picking up their eighth win of the season, but they’ll have to wait for that thanks to Tottenham’s 79th-minute substitute.

The Dutchman picked up Matt Doherty’s ricocheted pass and hit it home for 2-2 in the 95th-minute, but he wasn’t done there.

Just 80 seconds later Harry Kane played Bergwijn through one-on-one as he went round a helpless Kasper Schmeichel to score the winner in the seventh minute of stoppage time. The shot went in off the post and ended an end-to-end match in the fashion it deserved.

However, it looked like it was going to be different when Brendan Rodgers’ side took the lead. After some nice play in the box, the ball fell to Patson Daka who scored with the home side’s first effort on target in the 24th minute. Admittedly this was against the run of play as Tottenham created some good chances, including Kane’s effort that required Luke Thomas to clear it off the line.

But Kane would get his goal before half-time. Harry Winks’ ball set the England captain through but left him with a lot to do. He cut inside Çağlar Söyüncü and scoring off the post with his left foot, just his fifth goal of the campaign. This came after the visitor’s had another shot cleared off the line, this time Marc Albrighton coming to the rescue from Pierre-Emile Højberg’s shot.

Leicester retook the lead in the 76th minute through James Maddison. He linked up well with substitute Harvey Barnes before his deflected effort looped in as his excellent run of form continues, he is Leicester’s second top goal scorer and second for assists this season.

This made the home side think they were collecting all three points before Bergwijn’s brace. This means Antonio Conte is still unbeaten in the league with Spurs as they now sit fifth, one point behind West Ham but with three games in hand. Whilst for Leicester, they remain in 10th, 11 points of Spurs.

In their next match, Leicester face Brighton this Sunday.
