Leicester Sink Two Points To VAR
Academy star Harvey Barnes helped Leicester City to draw 1-1 against Leeds United with a stunning strike into the top corner.
Within just a few minutes, Kasper Schmeichel was forced into action and made a brilliant save from a Raphinha shot. But then in the 26th minute, Leeds was given a free kick just outside the 18 yard box due to a Boubakary Soumaré foul on the Brazilian. From that set piece, he cleverly slotted the shot through both teams walls and past the Danish keeper.
With the Leeds fans still celebrating the 1-0 lead, Leicester City immediately bounce back with a goal from Harvey Barnes within 10 seconds from kick off. A lofted ball from Evans to the left side of the pitch reaches Boubakary Soumaré and heads it past the Leeds defender and into Barnes’s feet, which then cuts in on to his right foot and curls one in, passing Meslier reach into the top corner.
Just after half time, City’s front three make a brilliant attacking run, seeing Tielimans making a on-side running effort. But a heavy pass makes the Belgium international overreach for the ball and smashes the shot clear of the goal.
Within the last twenty minutes of the game, Leicester gain a corner from a pot shot deflected. From that corner, Jamie Vardy flicks on the cross into the Leicester loanee Ademola Lookman to fire the ball into the Leeds net to make it 2-1 to the Foxes. But VAR comes into clutch for Bielsa’s team as Lookman’s run was a foot offside.
Leeds move to 15th place with the point whereas Leicester drop a place to 12th.
