Leicester 1 – 1 Roma by Ethan Farmer
Leicester 1-1 Roma
The semi-final remains in balance following Gianluca Mancini’s own goal to cancel out Roma’s opener through Lorenzo Pellegrini.
The visitor’s struck early as in the 15th minute Nicola Zalewski played in captain Pellegrini who finished underneath Kasper Schmeichel. This suited José Mourinho’s plan as his Roma side sat back to defend the lead.
Leicester didn’t let this unsettle them and they controlled the game, not allowing Roma many chances. However, it took until the 67th minute for them to get their breakthrough. Harvey Barnes’ cross was aimed for Ademola Lookman but instead Mancini bundled it in to undo Roma’s early hard work.
But Leicester didn’t make their dominance pay off. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho has an effort superbly saved by Rui Patricio and headed over from close range.
Rodgers will surely be disappointed in the result after a performance like that. Whilst Mourinho will be delighted with it.
This means going into Rome next Thursday, it is in the balance and all to play for. But before that, the Foxes travel to Tottenham on Sunday.
