Kasper to follow in his Dads footsteps?!
The latest rumour is that Kasper Schmeichel is on his way out, and that the club he would be going to is Manchester United or Chelsea…!
The Danish footballer has been with us since 2011, a total of 9 years, when he was still a young player, 24 years old, looking to have a small chance of success like his father did, and it is safe to say he has won a decent amount with us!
In his time at Leicester, he has made over 330 appearances in the league, not counting his FA or Carabao Cup appearances. In that time, he has won the Championship, won the 5000-1 season Premier League with us, and got to a Champions League Quarter-Final! Coming from Leeds and Notts County down in the Championship and League 1 to a Premier League winner is not half bad! But is he now going to leave?!
This is what Leicester Fan Tv’s Sam had to say….
“If he wants out, let him go. No one can blame him. He has been with us for 9 years, and he has spent a good amount of his best career time with us. He is 33 years old, so if he was going to go to a ‘Big Club’ now would be the time. He has done his service with us, and he has about 5 years left in his career for a Goal Keeper, and he might want to win somethings. I’m not saying that he would not win anything more with Leicester, as we have a chance to go on and win Europa League, but he would have a higher chance to win more in a Manchester United setting. Also, he might want to follow on in his father’s footsteps, or he might want to create more magic with us Fearless Foxes!”
One of the reasons that Kasper is linked to Man Utd and Chelsea is because we are showing heavy interest in Seville’s Goalie Sergio Rico. He has become a target for Leicester, and the rumours have it that he would be coming for the 1st team spot…!
Why else would be show interest in Rico? He had made 114 appearances for Seville, and the past 2 seasons he has been out on loan, barely making 2 appearances for PSG… But the young Spain would be looking to develop himself into a 1st team player at any club!
Meanwhile, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has recently hailed 33-year-old Schmeichel and explained why he does not want to lose his No 1.
“He’s brilliant, he’s a world class goalkeeper,” Rodgers said.
“There is absolutely no doubt that he is one of the top goalkeepers in this league. Just his presence in the goal and his leadership.”
So this is a matter of weather Kasper wants to go, we have no interested in selling him, and he is one of the best Goalie’s in the Premier League, so if we can keep hold of him, we should try to! Even if this means giving him a new contract…! Would you keep him and offer him more money to stay or find a new Goalie… Or can Danny Ward hold up in between the sticks and do the job himself?!
What do you think to Kasper leaving? Has he done his time with us or will he continue to create some more magic with us…?
Watch some of his highlights from last season to show you why he is the Danish Number 1, and one of the best Premier League Goalies stilll!
