Leicester City have fallen to a 2-1 loss away at Wolves to continue their winless league run in 2022.

The away side went into this game after a win against Randers, hoping they had turned a corner, but they knew this wouldn’t be an easy job as Wolves are one of the in-form teams in the league and are themselves vying for a top 4 spot.

Wolves took the lead due to an excellent strike from Ruben Neves after a layoff from Raul Jiminez, giving Schmeichel no chance, but after this, City were the better side, constantly creating chances and coming close. They got their well-deserved equaliser 4 minutes before the break, with Albrighton squaring it across for Lookman to tap in.

After half time the treacherous conditions continued, and it didn’t seem to bother Leicester, who began the second half on top, but just after the hour mark, Alt Nouri beat Pereira way too easily and allowed Dendonker to pass to Podence, who struck from 25 yards out, there was a question of offside, but the goal was given, and Wolves took a lead they wouldn’t give up.

There were late chances for Leicester, notably a free kick from Maddison and a Tielemans strike from a distance, but the loss emphasises the pressure on Rodgers and will have them looking over their back at the trailing pack.

After the game, Rodgers said that Leicester” deserved more from the game,” and the whole side was disappointed.

The one positive note is that Jamie Vardy is expected to return to training in the next week, which will be a massive boost to a forward line that has been poor over the last few weeks and could give Leicester what they need to have a strong end to the season.
