FIRST WIN AGAINST FLOREST!
Match Report – By Matt Ballard
Leicester bounce back
Leicester City may have finally got their season on track with a 4-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest, avenging their defeat in the FA cup at the start of the year in the process.
With owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha coming over to watch, there was almost an air of what if the Foxes failed to get a result.
It almost started to feel like one of those days in the beginning, with Dewsbury-hall and Vardy spurning excellent chances to give City the lead.
But the game changed inside 10 minutes of the first half, with Taiwo Awoniyi hitting the post before Madders capitalised on a wayward Lingard pass to fire past Henderson with some help from a deflection.
Harvey Barnes then doubled the lead within a matter of minutes, firing past a sprawling Henderson to put the foxes in dreamland. Maddison then scored his 2nd with a beautiful free kick, wrong-footing the keeper and adding to Nottingham Forest’s misery.
The winger turned creator later in the 2nd half when Daka scored an exquisite backheel to wrap off a superb performance and left Leicester off the bottom of the table at the visitor’s expense.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers remarked: “It’s been too long without a win. We should have won before now but tonight was a season-changing game for us. We knew a win would give us a shot in the arm, but we got the performance as well. The intensity was outstanding.”
The relief was there for all to see, with Srivaddhanaprabha high-fiving fans and Rodgers celebrating with the coaching staff
With a reasonably favourable run in before the World Cup break, the Foxes will be hoping this is just the start
