Final Win Before Winter Break!

Persistence pays off! – Match report by Thomas Shapland

Leicester made it 4 wins out of their last 5 Premier League games, adding to their 2-0 win at Everton and a 4-0 Win at Wolves. The Foxes made 8 changes going into the game after their midweek win vs Newport County, with Faes, Barnes and Soumare keeping their places. Another comfortable victory sees Leicester continue to climb the table as we go into the World Cup break.

James Maddison showed exactly why he deserves to be on that plane, as in the 8^th minute, he smashes home his 7^th League goal of the season. A scuffed shot from Daka fell perfectly for Maddison in the inside-right channel, a sweet left footed strike made it 1-0 to Leicester, the perfect start.

However, a small scare as the number 10 was subbed off in the 25^th minute with what looked like a problem with his knee. However, not to worry as after the game, Maddison posted on Instagram: “Injury isn’t too bad! A small problem was causing a bit of soreness. Can’t wait to meet up with the lads Monday”.

Leicester had a chance to double their lead just before half time when Dawson swiped the back of Daka’s leg, with VAR awarding the penalty to Leicester. However, Tielemans failed to convert, and The Foxes went into halftime with just the one goal advantage.

A toothless West Ham failed to convert any of their chances and in the 78^th minute, yet again, Harvey Barnes finds the winner for Leicester. A through ball from Perez saw Barnes through on goal, with the winger slotting it past the onrushing Fabianksi. 2-0 Leicester, game over.

After the game, Rodgers gave an update on Maddison’s injury, saying: “He’s fine, just precautionary really. A little bit of soreness on the side of his knee. He hasn’t trained a lot this week after the Everton game. He’s OK.”

The Foxes are now sitting in 13^th place going into the world cup break, a massive turnaround from Rodgers and his men. Leicester have now won 3 away league games in a row without conceding for the first time since November 2019, with Faes revolutionising the back line. Leicester’s next game will be away against MK Dons in the EFL cup on 20^th December, but for now it’s time to enjoy some of our Foxes show their talents on the world stage in Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup.
