Disappointment again in London

After another disappointing day at the office for Brendan’s blues, when WILL Leicester pick up a Premier League win. The game looked out of sight after birthday boy Kelechi and Vardy put the foxes 2-0 up within the first half, however a brilliant fightback by the Eagles meant the honours were even at the end of the 90.

With the majority of the game being dominated by Palace, with the Eagles having 18 shots in comparison to Leicester’s mere 9, fans will undoubtedly start to doubt Rodger’s ability to lead this club at the moment. Not only are results sub-par for Leicester, but the performances that come with it have been far from attractive.

Having not won a game in September in the Premier League, the foxes will have hoped that October started with a bang. After a careless piece of defending from Danish centre half Joachim Andersen, the Foxes got off to the dream start in Croydon. Swiftly after, a well worked goal by Barnes for the ever clinical Vardy to slot home meant the Foxes had grounded the eagles.

However, yet again, as seen weeks ago vs Napoli in the Europa League, the blues lost all focus and completely switched off from the game. Two brilliant finishes from starlet Olise and super sub and former fox Schlupp meant that the foxes had been pinned back YET again due to yet another poor defensive display.

With the 2-2 draw at Palace, this means the only team to not score vs Leicester within the first 7 games of the season came on the first game of the season, against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where the Wolves lived to regret the chances they missed due to a moment of brilliance from Vardy.

This inability to keep a clean-sheet this season is an issue that Rodger’s must work quickly to identify the problem as this is consistently leading to the team dropping points. The absence of Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans is proving more and more by the week that it is a gap Leicester are finding hard to fill, despite the signing of Jannik Vestergaard. Compared with the 11 cleansheets that Leicester kept last season, the foxes are currently on track to keep only 5 if things continue the way they are.

The defensive issues at hand isn’t the only problem for Rodger’s to address as only four teams have created fewer shots per game than Leicester this season, and they are 13th in the expected goals per game table. Again, compare this to last season, where the Foxes were the 8th highest team in terms of shots at the end of the season, then it is evident that there is a serious problem at the club right now in terms of performances. This is evidenced by the fact that it is the first time since October 2003 that Leicester have failed to win a Premier League game in which they were leading by two or more goals at half-time as their winless run in the competition is extended to four matches.

Again, a slow start to the season has seen some Leicester fans call for Brendan Rodgers’s number.. Leicester won’t be quick to sack the Northern Irishman due to his work at the King Power including winning the Community Shield and the club’s first ever FA Cup. But with a number of high quality managers currently out of work and on the hunt for a new job., Rodgers will be weary he needs to turn the results around, and quickly.

Final thoughts

Leicester fans will again be hoping for a lot more of their team coming out of the international break. It was an underwhelming performance yet again from the blues, who again threw away a 2-0 lead. This has been common feature within the last few games as the side look near impossible to be able to keep a clean sheet. Again, there are lots of talking points for YOU fans!
