100%LCFC Editor Phil Holloway asked Araf all about his project and Araf told us
“Leicester City Football Club just got a whole load of new fans in #Kolkata #India and here is just a few of them, thanks #LCFC for your support of donations of tshirts and footballs to the #HopeFoundation and bringing smiles to these kids. Every Child has a right to play.”
“I’m currently out in India, Kolkata where the hope foundation charity works with street and slum children to get , they work to free children and poor families from lives of pain, abuse, poverty. Leicester city football club kindly donated tshirts , footballs to me to bring them over for the kids and help them access sport. Also hand them out to the most vulnerable living on the streets. They’ve gone a long way in bring smiles to there faces. Lcfc fans should be proud of there club and the support they have offered, they have been amazing. I sent a few more photos recent ones , when I went Out with the Night watch team today, handing out clothing.”
We wanted to know more about Araf and why he got involved, he told Phil ” I’m from Leicester, aged 42, currently on a 6 month career break from work , where I work at Office Depot in Beamount Leys as a senior telecoms engineer, married with 2 kids who have just started university, so it gave myself and my wife an opportunity to travel and incorporate support for the hope foundation in India. We are travelling India until the 26th Feb , when we return back to the UK. During our travels we will also do some work with Unicef to promote washrooms and basic hygiene. Were also fundraising whilst in India for the hope foundation, https://www.justgiving.com/ArafandSabina/ whilst also competing in the London Triathlon next august and raising additional funds for the charity.”
Finally Araf continued “Here is another recent photo from one of the girls homes we visited and handed out some football’s donated by LCFC community trust , promoting girls right to play”
