Can we get through to the Semi-Finals?! Match Preview
Leicester vs Manchester United have developed quite a sub-rivalry over the past few years, evolving several memorial matches, making each match one of the big ones to watch for both sides!
From Vardy’s record-breaking goal against United in November back in 2015, to Man Utd’s 2-0 win on the final day of last season that pipped us to 4th place, all the way to Rodgers ending Solskjaer’s 10-game winning league run on the road last Boxing Day, this fixture always holds potential and is full of mixed emotional fans!
Injuries to James Maddison and Harvey Barnes have forced Rodgers into a rethink, and as usual the Leicester manager’s tactical flexibility has proved to be his biggest strength.
Injuries has set us back a bit this season, with Maddison & Barnes amongst a handful of other players forced Rodgers into rethinking his set up and how we line up, and his flexible tactics have proven to be a massive strength so far!
He moved to a 3-5-2 three matches ago, and a seven-point haul in that time suggest that this will be the same formation we will stick for Sunday’s tie!
Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho star as split strikers who operate the channels with their runs in behind, which stretches the opposition defence in two directions in order for Ayoze Perez, in the number ten role, to dictate the game.
Timothy Castagne and Ricardo Pereira have rarely been fit to play together this season, but should do so this weekend. They are surely Leicester’s best wing-back pairing, and one with the attacking threat to force Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka into retreat.
However, Solskjaer will likely anticipate the in-form Shaw supporting Marcus Rashford in attack as Wan-Bissaka holds to create a back three, thus mimicking Leicester’s system for extra defensive solidity.
This is what Leicester Fan Tv’s Sm had to say about the fixture as Leicester face Manchester United this Sunday in the FA Cup!
“I think this match will be a real test of tactical masterclass, as both clubs play similar football, and with both clubs sticking to the Wing-Back route, we might be in for some good counter attacking football! It’s been a while since we’ve been to a Semi-Final in the FA Cup, so it would be nice to get back to into it, even if we can’t go to see it as fans, we should fight our hardest, especially with us fighting in just 2 competitions now, so why can’t we get a win?!”
What do you think to us playing Man Utd this Sunday? Scared, excited, nervous?! Us here at Leicester Fan Tv are all of this and more!
