Can we Bounce Back Tonight!?
Match Preview vs Fulham by Lewis Royle
Leicester City welcome Fulham to the King Power Stadium this Tuesday under the lights, as The Foxes attempt to get back to winning ways.
After a slender loss to Premier League giants Liverpool on Friday night, with two own goals unfortunately going against centre-back Wout Faes, Brendan Rogers men will feel they can nick some points from newly promoted Fulham and advance from their current spot in 13th.
Alternatively, as the season has progressed, we have witnessed a new light for The Cottagers compared to recent years, as they currently sit in 8th position, eight points clear of Leicester, so a win for the Blues almost seems vital, but will their quality and depth be enough on the day?
Fitness
Leicester
Belgian Dennis Praet took a knock to the back of the knee against Newcastle last week, and looks to still be out of action going forward, with Ryan Bertrand, Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Jonny Evans and Englishman James Maddison also out, the latter still suffering from a knock during his time in Qatar at the World Cup.
Due to this, attacking midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will look to retain his position in the starting eleven after grabbing a goal against Liverpool, with Ayoze Perez also looking to be in contention once again after taking over from Praet in his absence.
Fulham
The visitor’s fitness will look to be continued after a good season so far, in particular striker Aleksandar Mitrovic who has 10 goals already this campaign, despite an injury scare last week.
Meanwhile, Neekskens Kebano, Layvin Kurzawa and Manor Solomon all remain out of contention due to injury.
Form/History
Both sides go into the fixture losing two out of the last five games, with the home side picking up one more victory with three wins on the bounce. That was before they lost to top sides Newcastle and Liverpool back-to-back. Fulham however, have six points from the last two games and aren’t shy of the net, scoring a combined total of five goals against Crystal Palace and Southampton.
In terms of past history between the two, the West London side have four wins, with Leicester on three, and the tally of draws also being three. This makes for an intense contest, especially for the neutral. Last time out, The Foxes won 2-0 at Craven Cottage, however the last time the two met at the King Power, the travellers won by two goals to one.
The midlands side know that at least a point is imperative in their surge for a top half finish or possibly even European Qualification, but only time will tell if Leicester can get back up to their very high standards set over recent times. Fulham on the other hand, can be nothing but delighted with how the season is shaping out for them, but due to their quality in recent weeks, they may come away slightly disappointed without a point themselves.
One to Watch – Aleksandar Mitrovic
It goes without saying this man is scary when in form, which lately, is all the time. Despite missing a penalty late on in his last match, the striker still has 10 goals this season six ahead of any other player for the club. With Leicester conceding the 4th most goals this season in the league, it doesn’t look too promising. Can he be stopped?
