6 Goals Conceded in 2 Games…
Foxes still winless – Matt Ballard
Leicester showed how desperate they are for new signings as their unchanged side lost 4-2 to Arsenal.
The Gunners started in complete control with a reaction save from Ward denied Xhaka from opening the scoring, but it didn’t take much longer. Gabriel Jesus scored a curling effort past Ward before last season’s ugly problem reared its head, and Jesus bagged a brace from being open at the back post from a corner
City thought they may have had a way back into the match just before halftime when Vardy was judged to have been fouled by Ramsdale inside the box, before VAR reversed the decision on the basis there was no contact.
Into the second half, the Foxes finally had a stroke of fortune, with Saliba looking to head back to Ramsdale and heading past him into an empty net, halving the deficit. Within two minutes, however, Arsenal restored their lead, with Danny Ward dropping the ball from a simple cross allowing Xhaka to strike just as he had threatened all game.
Some lovely work down the right from Kelechi and Maddison allowed Madders to slide the ball past Ramsdale. Once again, Leicester conceded within one minute of the resumption, with Martinelli being given too much freedom outside the box, allowing him to finish into the bottom right-hand corner.
After the game, Brendan Rodgers announced there were no plans to sign new players, and the main intention was to keep players with continued speculation around Fofana and Maddison. Which will cause immense worry for many fans.
Next is a home game against a struggling Southampton with an opportunity to get a first win on the board.
